Pete & Terri Fischbach

March 29, 2009: Everyone checked out this morning, some did well fishing and some had slow fishing. No exact reports. Dan Klinkhammer's group said they had slow fishing the first day out and then kept 20 some on Saturday. All our houses are off of the ice and Pete has already stored away the bombardiers. We want to thank everyone who stayed with us this winter season and hope to see you again next year. Will be back with summer reports when the walleye season opens in May. Keep fishing!!

March 25, 2009: Ice report - Lots of rain fell the past 2 days and we have stopped allowing access through our resort. Lots of water on top of the bay ice and water is flowing steady underneath the bridge on Co Rd 8. Lots of runoff from the ditches draining into our bay now. We had 12 guys ready to go fishing yesterday morning but after Pete checked the ice on the bay we decided to pull the plug and they packed up their gear and headed home. Also had to cancel 7 more people on their way up to fish our houses. Pete barely got our fishhouses off the lake having to pull them off thru Cyrus Resort. The lake ice is still fine and plenty thick but no pickups are driving out as of yesterday. Adrian's, Zippel and Morris Pt have all stopped allowing trucks out and now only letting sleds and ATV's on the lake. Anyone staying with us will have to access the lake via the Graceton Beach access or Morris Point Resort. Everything is good to go for all groups fishing on their own with portables. Right now we have heavy wet snow falling and the ground is covered. Bo and his friend are using ATV and fishing the Morris Point Washout - no report from them yet. Will keep you posted if ice conditions change.

March 23, 2009: Rained some last night and melted lots of our snow. Temps have been warmer here the past 3 days or so and most of the snow has disappeared, on the lake and on shore. There is some standing water on the lake in some areas, around 8-10 inches this morning. Still have plenty of ice on the lake but some resorts have closed their roads to pickups and are allowing ATV's only. We still have 4 day houses on the ice plus one sleeper house. Colder temps are expected for this Wednesday and we anticipate leaving our houses on the ice thru next weekend as long as the weather holds out. Lance, Richard, Keith & Kenny fished the Arnesen reefs this weekend and did great catching of lots of 18" and 19" fish plus putting back lots of 20" walleyes and bigger. They said it was best in the late afternoon. Ira, John, Dan, Stan and Ed said they had decent fishing on Saturday getting some nice 17" and 18" fish near Knight Island. Lots of portables out on the ice - it looks like a city out there already. We have permanent houses on the lake and will be putting more on the lake this Sunday. December 1, 2008: ICE REPORT: The lake froze over this past weekend. In checking the bay we have 10" of ice most places and did find one area with 9" of ice, all the way from our cabins out to the hump. After you get over the crossing there is 4" of ice out to 13 feet of water and then the ice gets thinner. It is very rough with lots of chunks sticking up until you get out to about 20 feet of water and then we have smooth clear ice. Pete plans on getting on the lake either Wednesday or Thursday with a few of our houses. Spearing is going really well with the northerns being very active, according to Al Holte at Morris Point View Resort. One group had 50 flags in one morning. Kim Barsness of Border Bait speared today in Four Mile Bay and saw around 15 pike in the slot range, plus he speared a 41 1/2" pike today and he took his two smaller pike for his limit. He said the water is pretty clear and he could see to the bottom in 6 ft of water. It is the clearest he has ever seen the water. There are several groups fishing the lake with portables. They are taking ATV's just a short distance out on the lake and then walking further out. Rainy River is also froze over. It looks like everything will be right on schedule for ice fishing this weekend and we have cabins open so give us a call.
