November 30, 2007: 16 below this morning and making ice. We are tentatively planning on taking our fish houses and putting them on the lake this next Tuesday. Just waiting for more ice. The Rainy River has been skimmed over with ice now for a couple of days also.

November 28, 2007: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE BONNEVILLE!!! Pete and Shaffer checked this ice this afternoon. The bay has 5 inches of ice and the lake only has 2 inches right now. They didn't go out very far since it was so thin. Will wait and see what the next few days brings and check it again. We have gotten around 5-6 inches of snow the past two days.

November 27, 2007: 12 below this morning and no wind whatsoever. Can't tell if the lake is froze over or not (looking out the upstairs window with binoculars). It is all white out there right now. Will drive to the lake and see is there is ice and report back later this evening. The fishhouses are staged near the shore and ready to go. We have 3-4" of ice on the bay. 5pm update: The lake is finally froze over, but looks very rough. Will be rough traveling for ATV's, etc out there. We could see open water a couple of miles out with steam rising from it. Open water also at Zippel Bay area. Pete will be checking the ice tomorrow for thickness. The high today was only 5 above and we are expecting more "ice making" temperatures! Yee ha!!!! Get your ice gear ready. We anticipate taking the fish houses out within the next 4-5 days hopefully! Keep your fingers crossed and "think cold".

November 26, 2007: Ice Report - Our bay thawed in the channel a few days back but has refrozen in the channel area and is now entirely froze over again with a thin layer of snow on top. We have ice all the way to the Morris Point crossing we use with the bombardiers. The lake is still wide open with some shore ice forming. We will be having colder temps in the next few days with lows at night near zero. It shouldn't be too long before the lake freezes over. Will post an update in another few days as the cold weather progresses. Boats still fishing the Rainy River and still getting nice fish, but not too many people out there. Pretty quiet around the area. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

November 18, 2007: Cold this morning and the entire bay here is froze over with a thin layer of ice. Lake and river are still open. Colder temps on the way. Lets hope the ice stays and continues to grow. Will keep you posted. Im having some computer problems so may be a few days before I can get another report on here. Please bear with me.

November 16, 2007: Shawn, Dave, Ryan & Denny had a really good deer season with each of them getting their deer. Ryan had a super season getting a nice 8 point buck plus a big doe. Denny went out this morning alone and did some calling and then rattled his can, calling in a smaller buck with 3 points on one side and 2 points on one side. He was very happy. They all headed home ready to do some butchering on the 5 deer they shot. Walleyes are still biting on the river and the shiners are running.

November 13, 2007: Shawn, Ryan, Dave, Denny, Richard and Dave are having a good deer hunting season. Shawn got an 8 point buck along with Ryan getting an 8 point buck plus a big doe and Dave shot a yearling. They are still hunting for the week. Ron Olson of Baudette was fishing the Rainy River and caught and released a 31 1/2" walleye. He and Mary caught their limit of walleyes. Mike, Roger & Steve fished the river and did very well getting their limits of walleyes plus one sauger. They also released lots of walleyes in the 20 plus inches range and Steve released a 28" and a 29" walleye. Tony and Bryant got their limit of walleyes last night also. Fish are hitting hard on the baits now. There is no mistaking a bite. We have high winds right now and temps are dropping. Ice in the ditches and our lagoon is iced over.

November 11, 2007: Happy Birthday to Rick Anderson & Ryan Kelly!!!  Ryan had a special treat today with him shooting a nice big doe on his birthday. Way to go Ryan!!

November 5, 2007: Been a slow deer season. The deer aren't moving around too much and hunters are seeing mostly does and fawns. Travis shot a nice spike horn buck this morning and Aurora also shot a spike horn buck, almost identical to the deer Travis shot. They both have long spikes. Greg, Jessie, Pete, John & Steve are also hunting. Cooler temps this week and we have been seeing some ducks around.

November 4, 2007: Matt, Pete and Terri went out fishing this afternoon. We had a nice day with high around 46 degrees and light winds. We headed out onto the lake around 2:30pm and put the anchor down in 14 ft of water. Another boat out a little deeper happened to be Jerry Allen along with his kids Brady and Morgan. They got out there around 1pm and started catching fish immediately. Brady put a 24" walleye back. Way to go Brady! They had their limits by 3pm and headed in. We ended up with 10 keepers fishing only 1 1/2 hours. The wind came up all of a sudden and it started sprinkling on us so we headed in. We kept all 15-19" walleyes and also put back some small fish. Hope we can get out there one more time. Walleye feed tonight!

October 24, 2007: Another great evening of fishing with warmer temps today with high in the 50's. Pete, Terri, Matt, Raymie & Dale all went out this afternoon around 330pm and jigged with shiners (live and frozen) in the Morris Gap area. We tried 13 ft of water and only had a few bites at first. Then Raymie caught a nice 18 inch walleye and Matt caught a smaller sauger. It slowed up and we moved in shallower to 11 ft of water. The water is dirty from the high winds the previous day with gusts to 60 MPH. We ended up keeping 10 walleye/saugers and released a 20 inch walleye. Steve and his two partners were fishing nearby and did well with Steve catching and releasing a 28 1/2" walleye he caught on a gold jig. They also put back a couple of 22-23 inchers and kept some nice eaters. They started catching a few burbot and then moved in shallower near us. Only 3 other boats out there besides us. Yesterday Todd, Chad and Brian fished the Rainy River and did super good. They said they "slaughtered em"! They caught 50 fish and pretty much did catch and release all day. They caught many 18,19,21,22, and a couple of 23 inch walleyes. Todd released a 26 1/2" walleye. On Tuesday they headed back to the same spot and had another super day catching around 50 more fish and released a 23" among several other nice walleyes. They come up this weekend every fall and always have fantastic fishing. No one on the lake Tuesday with the high winds. Looks like winter will be here soon. We are putting stuff away and getting ready for the colder weather. Pete is pulling the charter boat out of the water tomorrow. Kinda sad to see the season ending, but now we have deer season to look forward to!

October 21, 2007:  We have gotten another 2 inches of rain on top of the 4.5 inches we received last week. Everything is pretty wet around here. Current is very strong on the river right now and the water is dirty brown. 1 ounce jigs are needed right now. The lake is still producing lots of very nice walleyes for most. Saturday morning Todd, Brian & Chad fished the Morris Gap and did pretty good coming in with 5 saugers and 8 walleyes at noon. They ate fish and went back out for the late afternoon bite. That evening red glow jigs worked really well. Today they fished the Morris Gap again and caught 75 fish. They have their limits of both walleyes and saugers. The saugers are all nice size at 15 inches or so. Gold has been the best color. Todd released a 21", 22" and a 24".  Brian released a 26" walleye - Way to go Brian! Chad released a 23" and a 24" walleye. Way to go guys! They are seeking trophy walleyes now. Paul took on his charter boat Wayne, Cindy and one other gentleman. They did well Saturday getting 21 fish on the lake. Steve & Matt fished today and did very good for the evening bite. They kept their limits of both saugers and walleyes with all saugers measuring 15-16" and walleyes measuring 16-19".  Steve broke his line twice tonight on big fish.

October 16, 2007:  Larry and his 11 yr old son Cody hunted ducks for two days. They ended up with 1 mallard and 4 ringbills. The weather was rainy but still a little too warm and not many ducks flying over. There are lots of geese flying over still.

October 15, 2007: Super fantastic walleye bite at the Morris Gap right now and has been all week. Pete, Terri, Sherri, Carrie and her son Jacob all went out for the late afternoon bite. We left the dock at 330pm. The fish were biting already when we got there with Pete catching fish after fish and throwing back a 23". I threw back a 20" walleye. Sherri caught a released a huge pike, around 20 pounds we guessed. Jacob did great catching his limit of nice 16-18" walleyes plus he released a small fish. He had a blast. All keepers measured 16-19". The boat next to us released a 24" and more around 20-21". They got their limit and headed in before us. They told us they got out there at 230 and the fish were biting good then. Little windy tonight with bigger waves crashing against the boat so was hard to stay on the bottom but we got the job done and brought in our limits of walleyes. We caught a few small saugers and lots of small walleyes that were all released. We were using live shiners. Boat next to us used frozen shiners and they worked just as well or even better. They were catching fish pretty steady. Gold jigs and chartreuse jigs worked best tonight. Fish fry tonight again! Hope to see you out there. This is the fall walleye bite we wait for every year and this year it has been super. Tom and Jean from Randall's Resort came out late and they kept 3 walleyes and one sauger. Tom also released a 24" walleye. Was another nice day with high of 61 degrees and sunny.

October 13, 2007: Heard from a few of the locals that they got their deer this weekend with the special hunt for our area. Steve, Kevin, Jessie & Diane were out today putting up deer stands for the November hunt. Pete, Terri, Diane, Steve, Kevin & Jessie all went out for the late afternoon walleye bite. We fished in 13 ft of water and caught some nice walleyes. We brought in 6 keepers including 16, 17, 18 and 19 1/4" walleyes. We put back some small fish. Lots of boats out there tonight - counted 39 boats. Steve & Matt got their limit of walleyes. We are anchoring in the washout and jigging with shiners. The Bonneville's had a fish fry for dinner. Yesterday Pete, Matt and I went out for the evening and did better than today, getting our limit of walleyes, all measuring 16-17 inches. We put back some small fish. Matt released a 20 1/2" walleye and I released a 21" walleye. Matt also released a pike around 15 pounds. Was a pretty fish and very healthy and fat. We saw everyone catching fish out there. Rick & Brian's boat did very well getting their limits of walleyes also. We had a fish fry and ate 6 of them so we could fish the next day. The weather has been pretty nice here the past two days with lots of sunshine and not much wind.

October 9, 2007: Snow on the ground this morning and all over the trees. Heavy and wet stuff. Colder temps for this week. The geese have been flying over every morning and evening. I heard that fishing was pretty good this past weekend with lots of folks getting limits. We are pretty quiet here.

October 7, 2007: Carl & Tim spent 2 days here duck hunting but the weather has been too warm with temps in the 50's. Not seeing much for ducks yet. Colder temps on the way.

October 4, 2007: We just arrived back home from our annual elk hunting trip to Wyoming. Pete has been hunting with Sleeping Indian Outfitters in Bondurant, Wyoming which is about 40 miles south of Jackson Hole. He has hunted the Bridger Teton Mountains for the past 5 years with the same outfitter and has gotten his elk every year. Pete has bow hunted with them successfully and rifle hunted successfully every year. These guides are great and do a super job at getting your animal. Paul & Sharon Crittenden run Sleeping Indian Outfitters which has been in business for over 45 years. Paul and his son Sam guide hunting and fishing trips along with several other guides. Pete chose to rifle hunt this year as we couldn't get out there for the early bow season. He got his elk opening day just an hour or so into the hunt, right after daylight. They were back to the ranch with the horses and his elk by noon. I had taken off to do a little trout fishing in the Hoback River. I fished an hour or so (just a few minutes from the ranch). My second cast I caught a beautiful 14" cutthroat trout that I released back. Sure was fun catching it. I moved to a few more areas but no bites. I was overdressed and getting hot (around 70 degrees) so I headed back to the ranch and discovered the guys were back already with elk! They had quartered the elk and were skinning it and then hung it in their walk-in cold storage to age. I was especially happy because now Pete and I could spend some time together and go explore other avenues. The next day we slept in and then headed to Granite Creek Hot Springs for a swim. They have a hot spring they have tapped into and made a swimming pool/hot tub that is huge, for the public to use. Cost is only $6 per person to lounge and swim at your desire. They have changing rooms, bathrooms, pop, candy, etc and music to swim by. It is surrounded by miles and miles of mountains and beautiful scenery. For most of the time we were the only ones in the pool. We took our fishing gear along and followed the gravel road out from the hot springs which meanders for 9 miles to get back to the highway. We fished several spots on the Granite Creek on the way out, catching 6 or 7 trout. The largest cut throat was around 10 inches and we caught lots of little guys. We got back to the ranch around 5pm. We then tried the Hoback River and caught 6 cut throats there. We released all fish we caught. I also caught a Mountain Whitefish. Pete went sage grouse hunting with Sam and Paul one morning (I also tagged along). We headed out at 6am in the fog and snow to our destination. The guys ended up with 3 birds including one rooster that was very big. We saw lots of grouse and some ducks. Our last day out there Sam took us "float fishing" on the Green River. This was the highlight of my vacation! The fishing was fantastic and the scenery was glorious. We put in the water and floated about 7 miles down which took us around 6 hours. We didn't see another single boat during the entire float. The water is so clear you can see the fish with your polaroid glasses (which is a must) swimming right by you. Sam sat in the middle and rowed us around while Pete and I casted for fish. Pete caught the first fish which was a 19 1/2" rainbow. It jumped 3 times out of the water and took off upstream. Sam starting rowing fast heading the same way and Pete got his fish. He is getting it mounted. I caught a 16 1/2" rainbow on 4 lb test and that was fun! It was beautiful. No camera in the boat so no picture! I also caught a brown trout and Pete caught another rainbow around 12 inches. We caught some small cut throats and also a mountain fish. It started out a little cold that morning with temp of 37 degrees and the wind picked up for awhile with the threat of rain in the sky, but it cleared off quickly and we shed our coats. We had a pretty nice day with sunshine fishing all along the banks here and there, ate our picnic sandwiches during the float and we also floated underneath a bald eagle that was hunting for fish along the river. There were a few spots where we had to get out of the boat and portage. I was amazed at how little water a float boat needs to float downstream. The scenery was georgeous with lots of mountains. Pete and I definitely will do the float fishing again. There is so much to explore in this area and I can't wait to go back next year! Above are photos of our trip including Sam and his dad Paul, plus hired guide Glen with Will (customer) and his trophy mule deer. Check out JR's trophy mule deer he got. JR is a local out there and say's he has been hunting this deer for years and finally got it.

October 1, 2007: Larry's group has been here just a few days duck hunting and bow hunting deer. They come every year and usually do quite well. This year the temps were too warm and they also had a bad storm to deal with. They did get 8 ducks. The deer hunting didn't go as well and they didn't have much time to spend at it. They still had a great time and are thinking about coming back for more in the next few weeks. Just need some colder temps for the ducks to come in.

September 17, 2007: Beautiful weather today, sunny, light winds and temp around 75. It clouded up around 2pm with winds picking up and a few sprinkles. Pete did a charter taking Randy, Teresa, Michelle, Elizabeth, George & Corrinne. They had very slow fishing today jigging with live and/or frozen shiners. They caught lots of big bullheads, some rock bass, little saugers and walleyes, little perch and kept 2 walleyes measuring 17". It started raining on them around 3pm and they came in at 4pm. Pretty slow for everyone it sounded like.

September 16, 2007: Much warmer temps this morning with temp of 45 and no wind to start the day. The winds did pick up but not to bad. Pete did a half day charter for Mike, Michelle, Kevin, Josh and Sandy. They had a hard day and brought in 4 walleyes plus Kevin caught a 12" crappie that was nice and fat. They jigged with frozen shiners at the Light house Gap. Other groups did okay. Randy & Ben caught 30 fish yesterday and kept 6 of those. Ben released a 24" walleye that was the first first of the day. Way to go! They were jigging with shiners at the Gap. Pat brought his 9 year old son Preston along this weekend and the two of them along with Mark caught 15 fish and kept 5. They also caught a 12 pound pike. Preston caught a very nice 30" walleye today! He caught it on a jig tipped with a leech. The 3 of them kept 12 fish for a 1/2 day of fishing. His dad called to tell me all about it. Way to go Preston! Good job!! I will post a picture of his fish in the next few days. Tim & Bob had poor luck not getting any keepers yesterday. They went out today again but no report. Dave and Denny are bowhunting and have seen quite a few deer but didn't get any shots this weekend. Lots of geese flying over right now. Warmer temps for the upcoming week. Water temp on lake is 56 degrees. River temp is 53 degrees.

September 15, 2007: We had a hard frost this morning with a temp of 31 degrees. No wind but it did pick up pretty good for the afternoon fishing. It has been windy this past week and the water is dirty again. Pete tried downrigging at first this morning but no hits so they switched to bait fishing, anchored. They used frozen shiners with jigs. Chartreuse and white were the best colors for some today. Lots of charter boats fishing today. It was slow for Mike, Sandy, Michelle, Kevin & Josh. Very windy at 20 MPH today and a temp of 66. Kevin caught and released a 24 1/2" walleye. Josh released a 22 1/2" and Pete released a 20", 21" and 22". They brought in 6 keepers and released some small fish. Paul's boat did well with everyone getting their limits and coming in around 2pm. Billy's boat did well also jigging with shiners. A few more groups in the cabins but no report from them yet. Tomorrow is forecasted for mid 70's and sunny. Pete is taking the crew out for another half day of fishing. Nice weather all next week. A special thanks to John & Charlotte Fisher for the wonderbread lure they sent in the mail. You guys are great!

September 9, 2007: What a georgeous day on the lake! Pete, Terri, Merlin, Sherri, Carrie and 3 yr old Jacob all went out for an afternoon of fishing. We downrigged in 34 ft of water and as soon as Pete got the lines down we had fish on, catching 3 within a few seconds of each other, plus more coming in. They bit pretty steady. Jacob caught his limit today and really had fun. He caught the largest fish of the day which was an 18" walleye. We ended up keeping 19 walleyes and 2 saugers. We threw back some small fish but most of our keepers were very nice measuring 15-18". Didn't get any big walleyes today. It was sunny and hardly any wind to speak of - we were down to T-shirts. We really enjoyed the afternoon. Steve, Fred, Chris & Jeremy had a hard week with lots of high winds. They did get a few walleyes and some perch during their stay.

September 4, 2007:  Cooler temps today with cloudy skies. Fred, Chris, Steve & Jeremy are our only guests in camp right now. They are here for the week using the rental boats. They are seeking walleye and big pike. It has been very windy ever since they arrived last Saturday but they have been trying to get out there everyday. Saturday they fished the late afternoon and caught two northern pike around 25". Sunday was very windy out of the northwest with gusts up to 30-35MPH. Monday was also very windy with a few sprinkles here and there. The guys played cards in the afternoon. Today they went out for most of the day and only caught one walleye. Jeremy said they are still enjoying their vacation and will keep trying.

September 3, 2007: Very windy today out of the northwest with 8-9 ft waves on the lake. Everyone is pretty much fishing the river today.  Pete took out Joel, Jay, Nick, Mike, Greg & AJ on the charter boat. They fished a full day giving their best attempt on the river and also trying the Morris Point Gap on the lake the last hour of the day as the winds died down a bit. They brought in 5 keeper walleyes. Tim & Linda spent the past 4 days fishing in small boat around Pine Island and in Four Mile Bay. Linda caught a 30" pike that she had to release and she also lost another big pike. Tim caught a small walleye. The fishing has been tough with the high winds the past 3-4 days.

September 2, 2007: Joel, Jay, Nick, Mike, Greg & AJ went out with Pete today for a charter. We are still downrigging. The wind was out of the south today with gusts to 35 MPH but the fish didn't seem to care as they were biting super fantastic today. The charter boat came in with limits of walleyes for all aboard plus they had 10 saugers! Greg battled a big pike they estimated around 38-42" but he got away and took our lucky "Wonderbread" lure with him. It was the hottest lure for the day, of course! Will have to see if we can find another one at the bait shop. The group is eating fish tonight as they are fishing tomorrow again. Most everyone had excellent fishing today. Around 80 degrees today.

August 29, 2007: Nicer weather today with sunny skies. Chilly this morning with a temp of 46 degrees. More wind with big waves up to 4 ft this morning and then diminishing down to 2-3 footers. Jerry, Virginia, Bertie & Amy went out for another half day of charter fishing with Pete. They did better today and finished getting their limits on saugers and walleyes. Jerry caught his second big walleye of this trip, bringing in a twin to his fish he caught yesterday. He caught another 27" on the "wonderbread" again! The girls gave him a hard time for catching another big one and were hiding his beer. The next 5 times for his turn he would have a fish on, bringing it halfway to the boat and the fish would get off. Jerry accused them of putting a curse on him and they laughed. They had a good day. John, Charlotte, Teresa & Randy went out this morning but returned back to the dock shortly thereafter as it was too rough and wavy. Water temp today 67 degrees. The bright sunshine warmed it up one degree. More cabins checking in for the upcoming weekend. We are having a yard sale this Saturday so stop in if you are in the area.

August 28, 2007: Cool this morning and a high of only 65 degrees or so today. Just a few sprinkles here and there and partly sunny. Pete did a half day charter taking Jerry, Virginia, Bertie & Amy out downrigging. The bite was a little slower today but they did okay bringing in 7 walleyes plus 3 saugers. Jerry Gove of Trego, Wisconsin caught and released a 27" walleye that he caught on a shadrap that we call "wonderbread" as it reminds us of "Wonderbread" that mom used to buy when we were kids. It has the colorful dots all over it. Way to go Jerry!! We sure do wish that Jerry & Bev Weeks could have made the trip - we miss you guys! Water temp on lake is now at 66 degrees.

August 26, 2007: Charlotte & John just purchased a new boat up here this week and got to try fishing with their new boat equipped with downriggers. They worked out some of the kinks and got everything working well. They fished the afternoon and brought in 2 saugers plus 6 walleyes. They had a great time using their new boat. They also took Randy and Teresa with them for the afternoon. Pete has more charter trips coming up this week. Temps have been in the 70's to low 80's here the past few days. 81 degrees today and windy out of the south.

August 24, 2007: John, Charlotte, Teresa & Randy went out with Pete for another half day of charter fishing. Today the fish were biting even better and they came in with limits of walleyes for all of them plus one sauger. John Fisher of Ottumwa, Iowa released a 23" walleye. Way to go John! The fish they kept today were all very nice fish measuring from 14-19" with most in the 17-19" range. They all had a great time. Randy said the Wonderbread lure was still working well.

August 21, 2007: John, Charlotte, Teresa & Randy boarded the charter boat for a half day of downrigging with Pete. I decided to tag along and get some fresh air. The winds were light so just enough walleye chop today. The fishing was slow at first but after trolling to shallower water we started getting fish in 28-29 ft. Randy Fields of Logan, Iowa had a super good day catching and releasing a 28" walleye, 23" walleye plus he also released a 36" northern pike. Way to go Randy! He said the walleye was the biggest fish he has ever caught and then, what do you know, he got the big pike. This is the first time Randy has eaten walleye and he really enjoyed it. Everyone caught fish and the boat came in with 10 saugers and 11 walleyes. All fish kept were very nice eaters, 15-19" range. Wonderbread shadrap produced the best today with silver and black shadrap in second place. We are all eating fish tonight! Water temp at 66 degrees today.

August 19, 2007: Some really great fishing this weekend with lots of nice fish being caught. Dave, Dave & Tadd went out with Pete for two days of charter fishing. They headed out past Long Point area and downrigged. It was pretty windy at the start of the day but the winds died down and the fishing was super. These three guys have never tried downrigging. In fact, they usually come up for the winter ice fishing. They really enjoyed this style of fishing and Tadd learned how to set the riggers. They came in with limits of walleyes and saugers for two days of fishing plus they ate fish for dinner. Pete also brought in his limit and we had fish for dinner. Tadd Egenes caught and released a 22 1/2" walleye. Dave Egenes of Lamberton, MN caught and released a 22" walleye and Dave Rue of Lamberton, MN caught and released a 22" walleye. Dave Rue got a shadrap hooked in his finger and quickly removed it himself. Craig, LaDonna, Aaron & Andrea spent the weekend with us and went out downrigging using their own boat. They were pretty successful on Saturday bringing in 13 walleyes plus 3 saugers. They also fished out deep off of Long Point and said that a silver shadrap worked best for them. Craig Kiefat of Maple Grove, MN caught and released a 27" walleye. Way to go Craig!! Aaron Kiefat of Maple Grove, MN caught and released a 20 1/2" plus a 22" walleye. Way to go Aaron!! While listening to the marine radio I heard several different people talking about their big walleyes they were getting. The temps here this weekend were fabulous! Highs in the mid 70's with lots of sunshine. No rain here.

August 13, 2007: Been pretty quiet around the resort the past few weeks. Brad, Joe & Phil fished for 4 days with the fishing getting better each day. Friday they kept only 3 fish and Saturday they brought in 5 more eaters. Both days were very windy and stormy. Sunday was super fishing. They downrigged and caught lots of fish in the 22-24" range. They limited on walleyes and saugers plus released many big walleyes. Brad Chambers of Princeton released two 26 1/2" walleyes. Joe released a 24 1/2" walleye and Phil released two 24" walleyes. Way to go guys! Collin, Brian, Todd, Scot & Dan also fished the past 4 days doing very well. They ate fish during their stay and caught tons of 24" and 25" walleyes. Collin Orth of Milaca caught and released a 28 1/4" walleye he caught on a clown rapala. He also released a 27 1/2" walleye. Brian Furlong of Big Lake kept a 30 1/2" walleye he caught on a blue & chrome shadrap. He also released a 27" walleye. They caught lots and lots of fish and hated to go home as the bite was fantastic this morning. They will be back soon! Pete has a few charter trips coming up at the end of this week. The temps have cooled off and only in the upper 70's to mid 80's this week. Beautiful weather!!

July 28, 2007: Matt, Barb, Matt & Olivia went out for a few hours this afternoon. Very hot today. They kept 8 walleyes and 2 saugers jigging with frozen shiners. They fished just off of Pine Island in 26' of water. Ray & Cindy had a good week fishing daily. They ate fish during their stay and headed home just one fish short on limits. Chartreuse and crawlers worked well for them. Rick, Jason, Alex and John fished today downrigging and did well getting limits of walleyes plus 4 saugers. They also caught a 28" walleye.

July 25, 2007: Roger, Valerie, Chrissy, Jessie & Tanner all went out for a half day on the charter boat this morning. They tried downrigging first and did get some fish but Pete wasn't happy with how slow the bite was so they tried bait fishing which was much better. Roger Carlson of Champlin released a 26", Valerie Carlson released a 23", Tanner Carlson released a 22" and Pete Fischbach of Baudette released two 22" walleyes. 13 year old Chrissy Carlson caught and kept a 28 3/4" walleye that weighed 9.4 lbs. What a beauty walleye and so fat! Congratulations to Chrissy! Jessie, Jenny, Waylon, Eain, Brice & Eli went out in a small boat this afternoon and came in with 7 keepers. They were drifting with spinners tipped with frozen shiners. They threw back some small fish too. They went swimming to cool off and said the water felt great. Jessie came in sun burned. July 23, 2007: Hot, hot, hot outside and humid. Nick, Jesse, Ben, Dave, John & Christian came back and tried an evening on the charter boat leaving the dock at 4:30pm. They had slow fishing but did pick away at a few, ending up with 12 keepers. They downrigged and also trolled with shadraps, with the latter not producing. Ray and Cindy came in with one 18" keeper caught by Cindy.

July 22, 2007: Another good day of fishing on the big lake. Pete ran a half day afternoon charter and took out Ben, Dave, Fedore, John, Christian & Mike. They did very well downrigging and bringing in 19 keepers with a few small ones in there that were injured from getting hooked. Orange was the hot color today. No big fish but lots of nice eating fish. They headed back to their cabin to have a fish fry. Ray & Cindy went out for the afternoon and had slow fishing using bait. They brought in one keeper at 18 inches. Very hot and humid today but there was a breeze this afternoon. I went raspberry picking and found lots of berries.

July 21, 2007: Pete ran charter trips the past two days for Riverview Resort which is on the Rainy River. They had a group of 32 that wanted to go fishing. Pete took 6 guys on his boat and they did excellent both days catching lots of fish using live bait. They did try downrigging for a short period of time at the end of the second day. They caught their limit of walleyes plus 3 saugers the first day out plus put back some slot fish. The ate fish and the second day out fishing replaced what they had eaten. Everyone had a great time and caught nice fish. Rich, Terry, Mike, Jake & Jeff went out on a charter with Tom from Randall's Resort. They had good fishing but had to cut the trip short after Tom's driveshaft broke and had to be towed in. They fished til 1pm and ended up with 10 walleyes and 2 saugers. They threw back 5 slot fish. Mike Berg of Otsego caught and released a 29 1/4" walleye. Way to go Mike! Plus Terry Wong of So. Mpls caught and released a 27 1/2" walleye. Way to go Terry! They had a couple of 26 inchers they put back. They were downrigging. It was very hot today at 86 degrees with a south wind. Lots of boats on the lake today. Many wall hangers being taken this past week from what I hear on the marine radio. Going to be hot this week so fishing should be great!

July 18, 2007: We are having some super excellent weather this week with very light winds and the fish are biting great! Deb & Bill Conley of Key West, Florida are here for a few weeks vacationing and having a great time. Pete and I took them up to Little Oak Island on Sunday and spent the night with them in a private cabin. We fished for 2 hours before hitting the shore of Little Oak. What a blast we had downrigging in 29 ft of water. We caught fish steady and took in 3 saugers plus 13 walleyes, all of them measuring from 15-19 inches. Deb caught a 20" we threw back. We headed to shore for a fish fry. That evening the sunset was georgeous! Pete and I departed for home the next day leaving them to the peace and quiet on Little Oak. On Tuesday we headed back to Little Oak to spend another night with them and then bring them back to the south shore on Wednesday. Bill & Deb fished in a small boat around the island while we were gone. They were using live bait but only caught two small fish. Today the four of us fished for a few hours while making our way south. We downrigged but was slow at first, then we got into 32' of water and they started hitting fast. We ended up with 10 keepers and threw back lots of small fish and a 24" walleye. Bill caught a beauty 29 1/2" walleye that he kept to put on the wall. He sure had fun catching that fish. What a way to end a vacation! Chris, Terri, Rich & Barry have been here for the past 5 days fishing in small boats. They had slow fishing the first few days but did get into the fish with Chris Matejski of Des Moines, Iowa catching and releasing a 25 1/2" walleye he caught using a spoon in shallow water. Terry Long of Des Moines caught a 43" pike on a weedless silver spoon that he is putting on the wall. Way to go Terry! He also released a 31" pike and a 36" pike. He sure had fun with those. The group did end up getting their limit of walleyes trolling with shads and they ate fish during their stay. Our lake level is just about back to normal. The water has come up dramatically and no problems with navigating your boats.

July 12, 2007: The blueberries are starting to ripen. Still lots of green ones left to ripen but enough to pick for eating. We made blueberry muffins and also blueberry pancakes for breakfast. We also found a few ripe raspberries, but still need more sunshine to ripen more.

July 10, 2007: We got up early this morning to 60 MPH winds with waves crashing into our docks. Pete and I had to get the rental boats out of the water fast as the waves were huge. There were 6-8 footers crashing on the shoreline. No one out fishing today. It rained all day off and on and the wind blew all day.

July 9, 2007: Pete, Terri, Robyn (my sister) along with our nephew Sam and our twin nieces Madison & MacKenzie who are 5 yrs old, all went out on the charter boat today downrigging. Sure was a nice fish and the biggest walleye Tim has caught so far. Way to go! Pete caught a nice 18" walleye and we also caught a few small ones. Was prettty slow otherwise. We came in for supper and then went back out with Darren joining us. We pulled shadraps in shallow water til just before dark. We kept one walleye and threw back 4-5 small ones. Was a beautiful evening out there. Todd, Scot, Tonya, Patrick, Kedrick & LouAnn were here fishing for a few days and did very well. They came in just one fish short of their limits. They had some very nice fish. Pete caught a big walleye around 10-11 pounds that surfaced near the boat and then bite his line off and got away! It was a beautiful day on the lake today.

Pete, Terri, Bill, Deb & Nolan went out on the charter boat. We trolled using shadraps with Nolan catching 3 very nice 17-18 inch walleyes the first 20 minutes we fished. Deb also was catching fish right away. Terri caught a nice 8-9 lb walleye that surfaced near the boat and spit the hook right at the boat, but we all got to see it. Nolan released a 19 1/2" walleye and a 20" walleye. Nolan was hot today and caught lots and lots of walleyes. We came into the dock with our limits by 2:30pm. Nolan also caught a nice smallmouth bass around 16-17" and he caught a smaller one also. Fish fry tonight!

June 28, 2007: Mike, Jill, Melissa & Preston went out this morning on the river as it was too windy on the lake. They caught 6 fish including 2 eaters and 4 small ones they threw back. Tonight the wind died down and they went out on the lake and caught 18 fish total. Ed, Pete & Karlene couldn't get out yesterday as it was too windy. Today they kept 6 nice fish.

We had pretty strong winds at 20MPH today out of the west but sunny skies. The water has come up quite a bit on the lake as we have been getting rain just about every evening or so. Eugene's group has gotten a few more walleyes and lots of small fish. They are using live bait.

June 24, 2007: David & Eugene went out and David caught around a 2 pound bass on a blue & white crankbait. Michael, Brian and Dan also went out. For the 5 guys they got a couple of small ones and one keeper. They are using leeches, slurpy and crankbaits.

Alex Simmons of Inver Grove Hgts caught and released a 23" walleye plus he released a 37" northern a few days ago. His group also caught 8-10 small pike. Tim, Linda & Devon did pretty well ending up with walleyes measuring 13 1/2", 16", 17", 18" and 19". Linda caught a 10" perch. They had a good week. Eugene, David, Michael, Brian & Dan just arrived late afternoon today and fished for a few hours tonight. They kept one nice walleye. Pete, Terri, Shaffer, Harley & Julie went out this afternoon. We tried downrigging for the first time in 34 ft of water and caught one keeper walleye plus 2 small ones. They weren't really hitting on the riggers so we went shallow and trolled with shadraps and did pretty well ending up with 5 more keepers in 45 minutes, plus we released 5-6 small walleyes. Julie caught a 7-8 pound pike also.

June 20, 2007: Danny, Ann & Jason fished yesterday but couldn't get out too far with their small boat as the waves were pretty big. They caught two bullheads plus Danny caught a 22 1/2" walleye that weighed around 5 pounds (released). He was using a bobber with nightcrawler. The water is dirty and looks like chocolate milk right now. Pete ran a charter today. Matt, Brian, Andy, Brandon, Alex, Jake, Mitch & Dave had a fun day on the lake. Still some waves so they headed to the west over by Zippel and Birch Beach. They came in with 17 walleyes plus 5 jumbo perch measuring 13-14". The largest walleye was 19 1/2". They were jigging with gold and white being the best colors. Minnows, leeches and crawlers all worked well. Sunny today with winds out of northwest.

June 19, 2007: Winds died down just a tad today and still gusting up to 25 MPH. Pete had a charter trip scheduled for today but delayed it til tomorrow. 7-8 foot waves in both gaps today so pretty tough to get out on the lake from here. Charters are fishing the river today.

June 18, 2007: Linda, Tim & Devon had a pretty good day keeping 5 fish with the largest measuring 16" and smallest at 13 1/4". They also caught a 22 3/4" pike. Andy & Cheri went out and fished til about 1pm saying they caught only one small fish. Sun is out today but very windy with wind advisories and gusts up to 40 MPH.

June 17, 2007:  Danny & his family went out for the morning but came in shortly after as the winds were high and it started raining.Cheri, Andy & Steve fished til about noon and came in soaking wet. They kept 3 fish.  Not much for fishing today as it has blown all day and we had thunderstorms with heavy rain most of the day. This evening Cheri and Andy went out and Cheri had on a big walleye that got off the hook right by the boat. They forgot their net. They also caught a small fish. Linda, Tim & Devon went out and caught 2 small fish plus Devon caught and released a 22" walleye. They were using spoons with worms. Devon caught a bullhead his 1st day out plus they got a pike.

Steve Bonneville of Champlin released a 24" walleye. Danny & Jason went out for a few hours and tried 20-21ft of water. Jason caught a nice 17" walleye. Danny caught a small fish. They were using spinners with leeches. Then they said the fish quit biting. Sunny today and windy. Yesterday the charter boats did fantastic with everyone coming in early with limits and lots of big walleyes caught in the 25-30" range.

June 14, 2007: Pete, Terri, Ellen, Paul & Mariah went fishing in the drizzling rain today. The air was warm and humid today with showers off and on and very cloudy. The fish didn't bite quite as well today. We headed over to Lighthouse Gap and fished out deep in 28' along with about 30 other boats. The bite was slow and we never even got one. A few fish were caught and we departed from that spot after 45 minutes. We headed west along Pine Island trolling shallow with shadraps and had a few hits. We then trolled around near Morris Gap when Mariah caught a beauty 25" walleye. Then Ellen caught a nice keeper walleye. We also tried it in Four Mile Bay along the back side of the island but only got a few small fish. We went back onto the lake side and got a few more and released some small fish. We came in with 6 keepers. Also put back a small pike. Sounded like it was pretty slow for everyone today. New groups will be checking in tonight and Saturday. We have openings if you want to come up and enjoy the fishing and great summer weather we are having.

June 13, 2007: Pete, Terri, Louise, Ellen, Paul & Mariah had a super good day of fishing. We left the dock around 9:45am and went just out to the lake and tried jigging while slowly drifting. It worked great with Louise catching a very nice 18" walleye for the first fish of the day. Ellen caught a nice 25" walleye right after that. Then she caught a very fat 27 1/2" walleye she released. We all forgot our cameras! We also trolled using shadraps and caught just as many fish with that technique. We came in with 12 keepers and released lots of small walleyes and saugers. Also released 3 northern pike. We had a super good time coming in to the dock around 2:30. Ellen & Louise invited us all to dinner with Ellen preparing shrimp kabobs, marinated porkchops and steaks plus portabello (spelling?) mushrooms and man was it good! Joe & Virginia spent 6 days with us and had a hard time getting onto the lake with all the high winds. They did manage to get out yesterday and this morning ending up with 10 keepers while trolling shallow water. They enjoyed their trip.

June 10, 2007: Hot outside today. We have gotten more rain and the lake level has come up dramatically, around a foot or so. We brought the Sportcraft home to our docks today. Shallowest spot coming in off the lake to our docks was 40", so we have plenty for navigating now. Pete and I trolled with shadraps along Pine Island and in the Morris Gap by the buoys and did very well catching around a dozen walleye/saugers. Firetiger and black/silver shads worked best. Lots of boats on the water today. The ankle flies are back (no wind out there tonight) so bring your spray or you need to wear long pants with socks and shoes. Joe & Virginia have been fishing but having a hard time getting fish with all the wind. They have caught one keeper so far.

June 9, 2007: Better fishing today with less strong winds but still windy. Mike, Kelli, Jeff, Scott & Pat went out for a second day on the charter with Pete. They fished the Morris Point Gap and also Zippel Bay area. They did better today bringing in 17 walleyes plus 2 jumbo perch. Scott released a 22" walleye. It was still windy today but not as bad as yesterday. Pete had two anchors on board today. Warmer temps today around 80 degrees. Water surface temp is 67 degrees on the lake. Kelli picked up her 30" walleye mount she had dropped off at Lake Of The Woods Taxidermy last summer. Her fish turned out beautifully. She told me she never thought she would catch a walleye that big. Mark & Bruno fished this morning and had one keeper. Jeff & Nick were here for the weekend but unfortunately they had to deal with the wind and waves and only got out at Zippel Park for a few hours and had no bites. They still had a good time. Terry, Tony, Steve, Dennis, Rob & John did well mid week and said they ate lots of fish during their stay. They caught at least 40 keepers. Yesterday was tough for them also with them keeping only 2 fish. Rob caught a small sturgeon and enjoyed catching it. Warmer temps on the way with highs in the upper 80's to 90 degrees for this week.

June 8, 2007: Pete did a charter trip today taking Mike, Kelli, Jeff, Scott & Pat out. Very, very windy today out of the west. They headed down to Zippel Bay area to get out of wind and still had a hard time getting the anchor to hold them in one spot. Most everyone was fishing in that area. The bite was tough as it was hard to feel a bite at all, but they came in with 7 fish calling it a day and arriving at the dock around 3:30. Pete released a 24" walleye today. Mark & Bruno tried trolling today but said it was too windy and they came in as they had no bites.

June 7, 2007: Lots and lots of rain today and very high winds. Not much going on for fishing. We have gotten over 3 inches of rain within the past week or so and the lake level is rising. Our charter boat is docked at Borderview Resort on the Rainy River but Pete thinks he will be able to bring it home to our docks any day now.

June 6, 2007: Mark & Bruno went out this morning and fished til 11am. The winds started to pick up and is raining out. They tried trolling with shadraps in front of Pine Island and did very well catching lots of walleyes that they released. 90 year old Bruno Pazzelli of Virginia, MN caught a very fat walleye measuring 28 1/4". He is very happy about getting one that big! Way to go Bruno!!! Terry's group is doing well and said they have caught 25-30 keepers so far.

June 5, 2007: Ron & Alexia had an excellent time fishing the past week. They caught as many fish as they could, was just fantastic. They ate fish constantly during their stay and took home limits of walleye and saugers. Their second day of fishing their keepers were two 16", two 17", one 18" and one 19". Alexia was using a gold spinner tipped with a minnow. Her first fish she caught was a 23 1/2" walleye she had to release. She also released a 21 1/2" and a 21". Ron was using a chartreuse spinner with a minnow. They threw back lots of fish. Terry Schmidt's group of 6 has also been catching fish, but no numbers from them yet. Pete took Mark and Bruno on a charter trip today. They did very well bringing in their limits of walleyes, 3 saugers and 4 perch. Bruno released a 22" walleye. It didn't matter what they used for bait; frozen shiners, rainbows, fatheads, leeches and crawlers were working.

June 1, 2007: Gary, Al, Bill, Mona, Deb, Mark, Tom, Sandy & Dylan all got up early this morning and headed down to Red Lake. They arrived there at 6am and set off to catch big crappies. Deb was the only one to catch a slab crappie, otherwise no other crappies caught. Deb & Mona had one crappie, one perch and one walleye. Mark, Tom, Sandy & Dylan had 2 small walleyes and Gary, Al & Bill had one walleye. They did catch lots of 19, 20, 21 inchers they had to put back. They fished up the river 2-3 miles and did well catching lots of walleyes and said they had a blast. They were all back to the resort here by 2pm or so. Pete, Terri & Matt went out fishing at 2pm. We anchored in 21' of water off of Morris Point jigging with frozen shiners. We brought in 12 walleye/saugers and one jumbo perch. We caught mostly saugers. It began to rain pretty heavy so we headed in at 4pm. When we got to the docks I talked with a 10 year old boy who had a nice 28 1/2" walleye he had caught. The rain was isolated and of course it was not raining elsewhere on the lake. We have received 1inch plus 2/10ths this past week and the water level has risen around 6 inches on the lake and bay. Ron & Alexia have been catching fish and fishing quite a bit, but no official report from them yet. Beautiful day today. We sure enjoyed having our Illinois groups that just departed.

May 31, 2007: Pete & Terri found the mother lode of giant white mushrooms this evening! We found the biggest mushrooms we have ever found. We were in mushroom heaven! We have never found so many in a small area and so many big ones. We picked out the largest ones and could only fit 12 mushrooms on a cookie sheet - they are just huge! The grass is so tall in the woods now that they are hard to see but they are there, just look close and move the greenery around with your hands and feet. We only picked for less than an hour and must have brought home over 100 mushrooms. We showed them to our customers at the cabins and after pictures shared them with everyone in camp. What a feast! Mark and Dylan fished last night and brought in 7 keepers. This morning Mark, Dylan Sandy went out and kept 8 fish. Tom, Deb & Mona did very well limiting while fishing in front of Pine Island. Bill Mattoon's group of 6 are having good fishing this week and have had a fish fry every night, eating 8-10 fish. They go out and catch more the next day and have fish for dinner again. They have been keeping fish measuring 16-19". Richard Barker caught and released a 24" walleye today. Beautiful sunny skies today with very light south winds - perfect weather. Two of our cabins are headed to Red Lake tomorrow morning to try the crappie and walleye bite there.

May 29, 2007:  Bill, Gary & Al went mushroom hunting yesterday spending lots of time in the woods. They found around 15-20 mushrooms so got some for omelets this morning. Mark Jurca's group has been doing well fishing and getting some slot fish in the 21-23" range. Yesterday Dylan released a 21" and his dad Mark released a 23" walleye. They brought in 4 walleyes and 2 saugers in the morning and then ended up with 11 keepers for the day for 4 people fishing. Today they only kept 2 keepers. It has been raining hard today so not much for fishing. Sandy found some morels today just walking around the resort area. Gary, Bill & Al found lots of mushrooms in the woods. Still lots of woodticks in the woods and grass.

May 28, 2007: We found some very nice sized white mushrooms today! Still windy most of today but warmer temps. Yesterday the winds died down early evening and everyone went fishing. Pete, Terri, Travis, Miranda and Eian went out for the evening We did well bringing in 9 keepers (walleyes & saugers) for fishing 1 1/2 hours. We fished the Morris Gap in 20 ft of water anchored and jigging with frozen shiners. White jigs were working and also chartreuse worked well. Miranda did the best catching the most number of fish. We also threw back several small fish. Pete caught and released a 21" walleye. Bill Mattoon's group is catching lots of fish to eat but no big fish yet. They went golfing for the day.

May 26, 2007:  We are finally getting some rain that we desperately need, getting 1/2" so far today. It has been drizzling off and on all day and very high winds. No one is out fishing. Travis went down to the Wheeler's Access and casted off the docks catching two nice northern pike that he released. Gary, Al, Deb & Mona went out mushroom hunting today. They found a few but were only in the woods around 20 minutes when it started raining hard. This evening the winds died down so Gary & Al went out for a few hours. They caught just a few small fish they put back. Two more groups checked in today and are spending the week. Will let you know how they do fishing. The lilacs are blooming here and are beautiful.

May 25, 2007: Gary & Al are here from Illinois for the week. They went out this evening for a few hours and did very well catching their limits of walleyes and also got their saugers. They fished the Morris Gap/Pine Island areas. They got their walleyes deep in 30' of water and the saugers were shallow in 10' of water. It is cold here with temps only reaching the low 50's the past few days. Pete & Terri went mushroom hunting and found around 25 morels, all black ones. They are starting to show up more. Raymie and his daughter Mya also went out and hit the jackpot when they found a small area that was pretty well covered with morels. He said that was the only spot he found with lots of them. Otherwise they are scarce.

May 19, 2007: Very cold out with cloudy skies and windy. 4 ft waves or so out on the lake today so Pete took the guys fishing on the river. Fishing was slow for our crew but they toughed it out til 4pm bringing in 3 keepers. Matt Spalding caught all 3 fish plus lost a big walleye at the boat. Boy, did he get razzed for that! George & Tim tried the river and also tried going out to the lake at the Light house Gap but said it was pretty rough out there. They brought in one keeper walleye. Paul from Wheeler's Point Resort took out a group of 4 today and they did well keeping their limits of walleyes. High of 50 degrees today - burrrr....We had frost on the roofs of the cabins this morning.

May 18, 2007: Nice day with lots of sunshine. Myron, Matt, Rich, Rick, Matt & Kent went charter fishing today with Pete. This is their 9th year coming up, doing the first charter trip of each season with Pete. They had good weather but kind of slow fishing with them having the worst numbers brought in when compared to the previous 8 years. They had 14 keepers with the largest fish measuring 15 inches. They were anchored, jigging with frozen shiners, live fatheads and/or leeches. All worked but the fish weren't jumping in the boat. George Jones and his son Tim are here and did good this morning fishing the Morris Gap area and keeping 4 plus keeping another 3 for the late afternoon/evening bite. Diane, Dave & Bob had a spectacular week and said it was some of the best fishing they have experienced here in years. They are using an 18 ft boat and just fishing around Morris Gap, Pine Island and Four Mile Bay. Diane released a 28" walleye she caught on a gold hook. Dave released a 26" and a 22" that he caught on a green jig and Bob released a 25" and 22" he caught also on green. They also threw back more big fish and figure they threw back around 10 slot fish. They also caught a couple of big pike they released. They had three walleyes they had to put back that measured 19 3/4". They kept lots of nice jumbo perch at 14-15" and had plenty to eat plus limits to go home. Minnows and leeches were both working well for them. I went looking for mushrooms today but only found 2 of them. Found lots of woodticks again though! The lilac bushes are just starting to bloom and the cowslips are in bloom.

May 17, 2007: Fish are still biting. Water temp was right around 50 degrees on the lake yesterday. George & Tim went out for the evening and brought in 4 keepers. Very windy today but winds did die down this evening. Pete and I finally found some mushrooms! We hunted for a couple of hours and Pete had found only 3 mushrooms and I found one, but was small so I didn't pick it. Then just as we were heading out of the woods Pete found a good patch and we picked another 30-40 of the nice fat white ones. They sure were good for dinner tonight! The mushrooms are pretty scarce and hard to find. I think we found more woodticks than anything picking off around 30 of them between the two of us. Pete has a charter trip tomorrow.

May 15, 2007: Bob, Diane and Dave are having super good fishing, catching their limits easily while jigging. They are eating fish heartily and having a great time. Greg & Travis did well today catching their limit this morning within 1/1/2 hours plus releasing a 24" walleye and a 4 lb northern pike. Travis caught a beauty 4 pound smallmouth bass. They were fishing in 9-10 ft of water anchored and jigging. We have a couple more groups checking in on Thursday.

May 12, 2007:  What a great day for a birthday on the walleye opener! Pete, Terri, Paul, Kenny & Brenda went out fishing this afternoon for 2 1/2 hours and did very well. The walleyes are biting and everyone is catching their limits today no problem. We fished in Four Mile Bay off of Wheeler's Point in 17' of water and did very good with white jigs producing best, tipped with a frozen shiner. Brenda was really hot today with a white jig with little spinner blades on it. She caught many fish. We brought in 18 keepers and headed for the docks as we had made plans for the evening. The game wardens were out checking boats and handing out coupons for free ice cream cones at McDonald's for anyone they saw wearing their PFD's. The weather was perfect today with a high of 70 degrees and light winds. Lots of boats on the water today. The water is shallow this year but just enough to get out to the lake. Dave, Bob & Diane are here for a week and have been fishing but haven't gotten an official report from them yet. Pete and I have gone mushroom hunting 4 times already but have not found a single mushroom. Have heard of only a few people finding them but they say they are scarce and most seem to be dry looking. We have not had any rain whatsoever here this spring.
