Our spring season consists of open water fishing on the Rainy River during pre-spawn in April, then the lake at Season Opener in May. Bring your small boat and motors and head out to the  Rainy River at Birchdale, Frontier or Vidas for river fishing in April. After an exciting day of catching walleyes head back to the Walleye Retreat for a comfortable and warm night of lodging.

SEASON OPENER -  The walleyes have completed their spawn and are heading back into Lake of the Woods to spend their summer. The walleyes are in shallow water this time of year. It's only a 5-minute boat ride to the Morris Gap for great walleye action. The walleyes are usually stacked-up and waiting in the "washout" and near Pine Island.
